Coming New "WebTalk" Website

Honolulu Berts Byte Marks

What a nice surprise!

While clicking through the WebTalkGuys referrer links which tells us what sites are linking to us, I found a healthy amount of surfers came to our site from a an article in the "Honolulu Advertiser". The columnist, Burt Lum, did a piece on discovering talk radio on the net. He profiled WebTalkGuys as well as close personal tech talker Ken Rutkowski of KenRadio.

Help Name That Radio Show

WebTalkGuys will soon be launching a 5 day/week 2-minute soundbyte of tech information on about 900 radio stations and we need your help.

We want some ideas as to what to call this short-form “vignette”, as they call it in radio. Help us think of a name – preferably something that has an available “.com” to go along with it. The name should imply the content of the vignette which is to share trends, news or advice regarding the Internet. Some ideas are “Future Tech”, “This Digital Life”, “Web Link” or “Click Talk” – but we’re looking for something even better – so put on your thinking caps for WebTalkGuys!

Matrix Movie is Star Wars of X-Generation

With the coming sequel to "The Matrix" reloading next Thursday the 15th. I am reminded of the hype that surrounded the release of the sequel to Star Wars. I recall waiting for over 6 hours to get in and how important it was to my generation. I am also reminded that this is one of the few major Internet and computer technology topic media hits to come out of 1999. We launched our radio show about the same time this movie was released and both seem so long ago. This movie has hit a cord with a very broad audience appeal. The Matrix also reminds me of another successful movie MIB or Men In Black. The common theme is the black coats and the black sunglasses with very cool music.

Go see the Matrix Reloaded. We need to be reminded that the Internet and advanced computer technology can be very cool and fun again. I feel that if we can spark some imagination and innovation again with technology that it could pull us out of the economic downslide we are currently in.

This is Your Life - the audio version

One of the projects that has been keeping me - "WebGirl" - busy between WebTalkGuys shows is recording and editing a new audiobook.

The author of "The Veiled Pulse of Time: An Introduction to Biographical Cycles and Destiny (Spirituality and Social Renewal)" (link to Amazon page) has been coming into our studio at LoudVox Productions every week to record his book. It'll probably be about ten hours of audio, but I thought you'd like to listen to a few samples via Windows Media, which can also be downloaded by right-clicking for your mobile device.

Just a bit of background to the content:
The book's premise is humankind goes through similar 7-year, 10-year cycles and 12-year cycles in their life and blends in freedom, destiny, transformation, reincarnation, and karma. He uses tons of examples from well-known people from history. I found most of his conjectures to be true when I listened to his section on my own age range - as well as the age cycle of my two step-kids. Have a listen to the above audio links and see if you don't agree.

Mr Bryant is a charming gentleman who has devoted his life to teaching in the innovative K-12 Waldorf Schools. And I'm really partial to his cultured British accent.

By the way: if you have or know of someone who has a book they'd like to turn into an audiobook, let's talk (examples). Before WebTalkGuys Radio, I was in the book industry for 15 years. "Books and Audio" are pretty much my personal tag line!

I love the the feeling I get listening to The Doors. You could say I love to play him...play with him...
A few days ago I was feeling nostalgic for a period in my life living on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. My apartment building once housed the likes of Marilyn Monroe, MM's roomie Shelly Winters, Michael Landon and - yes - Jim Morrison.

One of the things that keeps me busy between WebTalkGuys radio shows each week is helping another weekly radio show do the web thing:

Craig hosts a two-hour radio show every Sunday on KVI AM in Seattle. I recorded it, encode it for streaming on the web and update the site. Craig has been a WebTalkGuys listener from day one in 1999. He was a guest on our show and then became an advertiser. He got his radio groove on back in 2000 and started his own show on real estate and home mortgages - he's CEO of a mortgage company called LoanTek. For over a year, he was producing his show from the WebTalkGuys studio (LoudVox Productions).
I thought you'd like to have another fun show to listen to while you work on your computer - and learn something about buying a home, selling your home and what to do when your neighbors trees start blocking your view!

We All Need An Atomic Clock In Our Lives
It seems like all my clocks are always off and I never know the time! This includes my computers and has bothered me for long-time. Thus one day recently, I diligently went looking for some software plug-in to help. I have always heard about this great Atomic Clock that always kept perfect time and thought that certainly someone who was bright enough to build an Atomic Clock would be bright enough to port it to the Internet.

So I went searching at Google and typed “Atomic Clock”. The results yielded US Government time and Time Service Department US Naval Observatory.

My favorite is freeware Atomic Clock Sync at World Time Server.

The Gator folks also have a shareware called Precision Time this program does not say it is connected to an Atomic Clock, but must use a darn good non-atomic clock.

Here is another good program at AtomTime and is a shareware program that will synchronize your PC clock with the atomic clock server in Boulder, Colorado.

And You Thought SARS Was The Only Virus To Avoid:
A newish virus is running amok this month. We chat about them on our April 12 show (Windows Media stream). Worm/Ganda is an Internet worm socially engineered to capitalize on the buzz term of the month - Iraq. Examples of the subject line are "GO USA!!" and "Disgusting Propoganda". Typically, the body messages claims they've attached a screensaver containing pictures taken by one of the U.S. spy satellites during a mission over Iraq.
Let's all say it together - "Don't click on attachments from anyone you don't know!"
